Metal Gear Solid 5 NOT Confirmed

November 23rd, 2011

Some of you might have heard that there was going to be a
"Metal Gear Solid 5" which blew up on the internet the past couple of days. Well it turns out Kojima did not confirm anything with making a new game with the Official PlayStation Magazine of the UK.

Here's a quote for the Official PlayStation article:

When asked about the sequel to MGS 4 the series' creator replied "I think we'll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea". Once again, though, Kojima is downplaying his involvement. "As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, [it] probably won't be as much as it was with MGS1 – maybe I can do just one stage! For MGS1 I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on – that level I can't do again."

Sounds to me like there were no plans from the beginning, but maybe someday. He also won't be involved as much like he was with other Metal Gear Solid titles. That's IF there's going to be another game.

Anyway, I'm not too surprised. First of all, Snake was suppose to die after MGS4 (unless this game would be a prequel, like Snake Eater of MGS3). Secondly, Peace Walker was suppose to be considered Metal Gear Solid 5. But I haven't given up hope. The story of Solid Snake is over in my opinion, but that doesn't mean they can't have another prequel.
